Okay so for all of my children I have lived in a rented house. So I have NEVER been able to actually decorate a nursery how I wanted. Getting the bedding and furniture I want and putting things up on my white walls is the best I have had haha. Alexander’s nursery will be the first I get to plan out.
So obviously I was so excited to be able to actually plan out and create the nursery I wanted. My husband has been so awesome about letting me plan this out. Also, being the wonderful husband he is, agreed to all the ideas I have presented to him!
I was inspired by this awesome “I Love You Deerly” sign and nursery that I saw on Pinterest and decided to do an antler/deer theme for Alex.
I love gray and think it goes well with pretty much any other colors, bright or dark. We really just fell in love with the look of the nursery that inspired me so our color scheme of navy blue, gray, and white just stuck!
We bought all the fabric through BabyBedding. I do not sew, but my amazing Grandmother does and she sewed all the crib bedding and the curtain panels for us. Thanks again Grandma (wink face)!
The fabric for the fitted sheet is the solid navy, she made a little pillow with the extra fabric. The crib blanket we chose the navy woodland animals. We had three different navy blue deer themed fabrics and after a lot of debate lol we chose this one! The curtain panels are navy blue and white buffalo check fabric and I got the black out liners from Amazon.
Zach has been working so much the past few months, so my awesome friend and neighbor, Andriana, painted the wall in the nursery that I wanted to paint. Zach and I chose to do thick horizontal stripes, mostly because it seemed easier than doing vertical stripes lol.
Andriana also created this beautiful sign for us when she found out the theme we were going with. She also helped me with the name sign to go over his crib since I do not have a silhouette machine.
The wooden pallet sign was something she already had. So I didn’t have to have my husband cut up and create the sign I wanted.
Using her Silhouette Cameo, we created the cutouts for the antlers and arrow first. We used freezer paper, which I will say worked just fine, but we did have to scrape off some of the paper that stuck to the wood. So anyway, I chose to paint to antlers in gray and the arrow in light blue. We had to iron the freezer paper onto the board and then just painted three coats of paint. Peeled it off when we were done and moved on to the name.
Since it was hard enough making sure the paint did not bleed through with the antler and arrow, we chose to just use vinyl for the name. Obviously that was the easiest part since we just had to stick it onto the sign. I am so happy with the way it turned out and that it looks so good against the wall!
Pictures and Signs
So my original plan was to use four printables I created. I was then surprised with a baby shower and actually got a ton of wall decor so I didn’t think I would have room for my own pictures.
Now that everything is done though I am debating on putting two on each side of the name sign, or two on the other side of the window because I am also still debating on creating a ribbon garland with all the leftover fabric for the bedding to go under the names sign lol. I am just being indecisive and will likely not do any of these ideas since I am due in one week and tired haha.
Anyway I also wanted to show you the few cute accents for the room. We found the lamp for super cheap at a Dirt Cheap, which is a discount store, by our house. And the little bucket with his name was made by Andriana for the baby shower gift she got me, I am now using it for toys.
We are just beyond excited to be bringing another sweet baby into this world. I only have one week left until my due date and the wait is almost unbearable. His room feels so cozy and it turned out exactly as I imagined!
