One of my main goals for 2018 is to begin incorporating healthier eating choices for my entire family. I try to eat healthy breakfasts, lunches, and snacks for myself, but my kids eat a lot of processed food for their meals. I have healthy choices for snacks and meals and don’t buy sugary things, but it is all processed (except the fruit and veggies of course) and I want to begin transitioning to clean eating for my entire household. I think it is so important not only for our bodies, but also for the environment.
We buy so much processed food and honestly, my household throws away a significant amount of food each month. So many resources go into producing the food and packaging and then we just throw it out, which only adds to the piles of trash in our landfills. I don’t want to continue destroying the Earth that our future generations will have to inhabit. I think if I am making all of my own food and snacks I will certainly be less likely to just toss it because I put so much time into making it. Plus, I won’t have the extra cans, bags, and boxes from all of the different things I am eating.
I am excited to begin this journey and take you guys along with me. Right now, I will be sharing my own monthly menu for my family of six and our grocery lists for the dinners only, eventually I would like to start sharing my own recipes and other things I begin transitioning. If you are interested in joining me just make sure you keep in mind that I have to make enough for six people and you may not so adjust things accordingly. The extras could be used as leftovers for lunches though, either way do what works for you!
There are a few recipes that are not linked with the menu and that is because they are my own recipes, so I will be posting those throughout the month! Please keep in mind that this is my first month doing this for someone other than myself, so I know it isn’t perfect right now. I am going to be perfecting though as the months go on, so it will be easier for you to just go through and determine which recipes you want to use and what ingredients will be needed for those recipes. If you have any ideas for yummy snacks please let me know! I am trying to find some recipes for snacks and breakfasts the kids will like that I can make in bulk, so please let me know if you guys have any suggestions!
