Love must be sincere…
The latin word for sincere is sincerus, which means clean or pure. To be pure and clean is to be free of any contamination. Thus, to love sincerely is to love without contamination.
Would you say your actions and feelings towards your husband and marriage are free of any contamination?
We all have struggles throughout our marriage, but if you are loving your husband sincerely that means you are not letting those past faults pollute your view of him or your marriage. Jesus loves us sincerely, even while we continue to sin.
We sin continuously because it is the human condition. It isn’t something we will ever be free from. As I said in this post though, we are filled with the spirit of God. Therefore we have automatically been given the ability to act as Christ. We are called as Christ’s servants to love everyone sincerely.
Everyone has faults and flaws that may be hard to overlook or love. You, as a daughter of Christ, are called to love in spite of these and without hypocrisy. I know that it may be hard, especially if you are surrounded by difficult people. If you struggle with this then get down right now and pray. Pray for strength, love and grace to replace any dislike your heart may be holding on to regarding others, especially your spouse.
Today I ask that you start this marriage challenge with me. It isn’t difficult and it won’t do anything other than recreate a sense of love between your husband and yourself that may have been lost along the journey of life. Just like all relationships, you have to continually work to strengthen and renew the love in your marriage.
Let us go out today and sincerely, purely and without fault, love others just as our wonderful Father continues to love us.
